Summary
Things were a bit intense with Akito. Things had always been intense with Akito, Tohru wasn't sure how they could not be between the two girls whose connection had resulted in the final death of God.
Tohru looked back at Akito where she was sitting in the sand, knees to her chest. She could feel Akito's eyes on her.
So, yes. Things had been intense. It was like there was some sort of weird tension. She couldn't put her finger on what was off, but Tohru was at her best when she had a problem to fix. Now she'd set it up so she had a whole weekend alone with Akito to puzzle it out!
Problem was, Tohru didn't know what sort of piece she was even looking for.

A year after the curse breaks, Tohru and Akito return to the beach house.

Kyo Sohma was going camping.
Well, maybe camping was a generous turn of phrase. Camping in that he was driving out to stay the weekend at a Sohma owned lakeside cabin with his lovely wife and her weird, formerly evil best friend.
Gravel crunched under the car tires as Kyo pulled onto the long driveway his directions told him led to the cabin. Glancing into the rearview mirror, he accidentally made eye contact with a vaguely carsick-looking Akito over the top of the novel she was reading. He still wasn't entirely sure why he was fine inviting her along. Kyo wasn't entirely sure about a lot of things that had happened since Akito had moved out to the country, they just sort of happened.

"Shinobu-chan?"
Right there in front of her, hair chopped a good deal shorter than when Shinobu had last seen her a couple months ago but still pretty as ever, was Chihaya Ayase. Shinobu slumped forward, face planting into Chihaya's stomach. She made a low whiny noise in the back of her throat.
"Woah are you okay?" Chihaya exclaimed, "Have you been drinking enough water or do you need some food or–"
"If you win this year it doesn't count," Shinobu grumbled, "my reservation got mixed up so I'm going to be kicked to the streets."
Chihaya took approximately one second to deliberate before blurting out "You can stay in my room!"

Honestly, how the hell was she supposed to guess that girls were expected to give chocolate to everyone they liked on a seemingly random day in February?
Really.
It's not like anyone had ever given her chocolate on this 'Valentine's day.' She had no way of knowing! Then again, as she'd been made aware of last year, nobody had ever actually liked her, least of all other girls.
Emphasis on the past tense of the 'had,' because now there were between one and three people who did like her for real.
