    Summary

Kara is at the end of her nursing shift when a violent man is brought in with an arrow wound. When he spits blood on her, Kara is transported elsewhere. Soon she's doing emergency wound care on book characters and trying not to lose it. She can't watch people suffer even if it isn't real, but Aragorn is very suspicious of a woman who tells no clear story and smells like an orc.

“Stranger things have happened than you or I have years to tell of it," Gandalf said. "Why does she unsettle you? Surely you do not feel threatened. I am tolerably certain you could defeat her if it came to violence.”
Aragorn scoffed at his gentle humor. “I’m glad to amuse you. There are more dangers than warriors and swords. Need I tell a wizard that?"
“I can assure you she is not evil and has not a whisper of magic.”
“Yet a beautiful woman appears directly in our path, leagues from civilization, and immediately gains the hobbits’ trust. No wizardry, you say?”
Kara was not *unhappy* at being called a beautiful woman (although his standards for human women, as opposed to elves, were probably low), but she was unhappy to be stuck eavesdropping. She’d seen this scene too many times in movies. They would definitely see her.

Easily one of the best LOTR fanfics I've ever read.

    Summary

“April O’Neil. You know how jealously possessive I am of both my personal time and my privacy.” She leaned against the wall, crossing her arms as she kicked a leg out almost casually. Almost. “Why have you brought a bunch of strange men to my house at,” she checked her watch briefly - was it really that late already? “One o’clock in the morning?”

Both the lack of screaming and the fact that the word she chose specifically to refer to them as being “men” and not “freaks” or, worse, “monsters”, did not escape their notice, though they had far more urgent things on their mind at the moment.

“Please,” The man wearing blue, katanas strapped to his back as he lifted something large, spoke. His voice was almost desperate. Pleading, “He needs help.”

She had helped April far too many times with this sort of predicament. They had developed a protocol. How had this become her most consistent friendship?

    Summary

Take away the robes, the sword, the crown, and the weight of responsibility; these things leave Thorin as just a dwarf. A dwarf with pride, passion, and loyal to a fault-- and yet also easily the most honest and endearing man Tessa DeVon has met in this or any other realm- most notably, hers.
And does she ever crave him. The dance with death they faced on their Quest is over, and Tessa ever so wants to settle into a gentle ending with her Dwarf King.
The busier the two get, she'd do nearly anything for a moment alone, and when she happens on just such an occasion, she's thrilled-- only to doubt reading into the situation with one sided intentions. But what if these feelings were not so one-sided? How might she be rewarded when she brings her heart to the surface...
