Befriending masked vigilante Spider-Man wasn’t on Mike’s bucket list. His whole plan for his last year of high school was to keep his head down, balance the rest of his studies with his duties as the head of the school newspaper, and pretend like he still isn’t mourning the loss of his friendship with Will Byers.
So when Spider-Man saves him one night, he thanks him and gets on with the rest of his life. But then Mike sees him again, and again, and suddenly Mike wants to keep seeing him because there’s just something that reminds him of Will. And if all he can have are these small moments where he sees his ex best friend in a stranger —
Well, Mike would rather have that than nothing at all.

Summary
Mike returned his gaze to the gate when the attendant opened the doors and people started pouring out, on the eye out for that familiar brown bowl cut. He only realised how stupid that was when he spotted his best friend, sporting a much needed updated do and a beaming smile when he noticed his friends and family.
Mike was moments from jumping from his seat to run over and greet Will when he hesitated as his best friend turned to the man beside him and said something in his ear. The unfamiliar guy smiled and nodded, taking Wills carry on, leaving Will free to bound over to them unencumbered.
Mikes falter meant Mrs Byers was the first to hug Will, wrapping him tightly in her arms as Will ducked down to fit, even though he had intended to be the one. Instead Mike was left standing awkwardly to the side of the pair, waiting impatiently to greet him, with a few confused looks thrown to the man who had walked closer to the group.

Will learned that from the moment the tiny silhouette of a swing set appeared suddenly on his wrist at the same exact time he made his first friend. The dark ink bloomed across his skin, swirling out as it etched his fate.
That didn’t mean everyone kept the same soulmate mark.

Summary
He staggered back over the edge, crying out. Just in time, Spiderman shot out an arm to grab him from around the waist, pulling Mike out of danger. Mike cursed himself, adrenaline pumping wildly. The superhero chuckled, getting them as far away from the edge of the rooftop as possible, before letting Mike go.
“You okay?” Spiderman asked, and Mike could almost see his grin of amusement.
Mike, on the other hand, was the epitome of embarrassment. “Uh,” He croaked. He felt like crying.
“Seriously, are you going into cardiac arrest?” Spiderman asked, putting a hand on Mike’s shoulder.
Mike felt himself flush deeper. “No. No- yeah. I’m fine. Thank you.” He looked at the ground. The right knee of his khakis was stained oil-black. How had that even happened?
“You sure?” Spiderman squeezed his shoulder. That was not helping at all.
“Yeah.” Mike nodded, and Spiderman released his grip. “Fine. Thanks for…” He trailed off. “Saving me. I guess.”
or, Micheal James Wheeler, an intern at a New York based publishing company, is in love with his best friend. Will Byers, a student majoring in visual arts, is Spiderman. As in THE Spiderman.

“No,” Mike says immediately. “Of course not,” because, again, he should be so lucky.
Will’s baffled expression does not change. “Then why would I be?”
“So– okay, fine, whatever. Should we, like, tell them to get their heads out of their asses and that we’re not– um– dating, or–”
“I think,” Will cuts in, “well. You know what would be funny?”
Honestly, Mike doesn't know what he thought being Will Byers' fake-boyfriend would entail, but he definitely didn't think it would involve this many ugly Christmas sweaters.
