Nile is sitting on a patio overlooking the ocean and sipping on a latte when she gets the call. The group had ended up in Australia a few months ago, taking some time to lick their wounds, mental for three of them, mental and physical for one ancient one, and eventually split up, two and two. She and Andy had headed to Melbourne a couple weeks ago, with fresh identities and credit cards tucked in their belongings, courtesy of Copley.
She was glad that Joe and Nicky had been able to retreat somewhere for some alone time, but she would have really appreciated their continued company in dealing with Andy and her constant need to prove that she wasn’t just some regular mortal.

“Are you fucking kidding me?” I ask, when I can’t take it anymore. I don’t dare touch myself because that will get me the opposite of what I want, but I’m suddenly afraid that I’m going to be wound up with no release.
“Is there something you want, baby?” he asks, his face a portrait of innocence.
“Well, I’m naked on the bed like you asked, but you’re scrolling Twitter over there and ignoring me. Which is, you know, not nice.”
“I did notice that you were naked. And I’m answering a work email, not scrolling Twitter.” He gets up and takes his shirt off, throwing it over the back of the chair before coming over to the bed and raking his eyes over me.
“I think restraint and control can be really healthy,” he murmurs. He runs an appraising hand over one of my thighs, leaving goosebumps in his wake. “So, let’s work on that tonight, hmm?”
“I don’t really like the sound of that.”

That said, I am still a person with a checkered past of manic episodes and hyper-fixations that pop in from time to time, and it can still be difficult to notice them when I’m distracted by things. Things like a paper that ends up being 50+ pages written in 5 weeks.

Grantaire rests his forehead against Enjolras’ shoulder and just breathes for a few seconds, calming his mind and attempting to relax his body. When he leans back, ready to find Courfeyrac and have him open the doors, Enjolras pulls him back in and brings his lips near Grantaire's ear. “And if you make it through the night without ducking out early, I’ve got something special planned for you at mine.” A quick peck on Grantaire’s cheek follows, and Enjolras is heading over to join Jehan, Combeferre, and Musichetta in their conversation.
Grantaire is left confused and slightly hard but less anxious and more proud of himself than he’s been in months. With one more deep breath and an adjustment of his undergarments, he finds Courfeyrac and motions at the doors.

The man is keeping his eyes on the knife, which to be fair, does have a wicked-looking blade, and has shrunk back against the chair he’s tied to as much as possible.
Fiona grins at the grandiose gestures and loud, showy laughter, but interrupts all the same. Ify turns to her, smirks, and then looks back at the sad sack in the chair.
“Well, pal. My boss is here, which means things just got so much worse for you.” He flips the knife around hilt first and hands it off to Fiona. He pats the guy on the head, which makes him flinch, and goes to the door. Fiona nods to him and he leaves, the door latch echoing in the room as it catches.
