Summary
After Gilbert's rejected proposal Anne finds she misses her best friend terribly. She is dejected and devastated not to have him in her life with her. So dejected over the loss of Gilbert is she, that she finds herself crying in the rain with a broken umbrella. Roy meets her, offers her his umbrella, she then proceeds to have a full on break down. Gilbert comes across a crying Anne and immediately assumes the worst, punching Roy and putting Anne protectively behind him. Roy assures Gilbert it is not what it looks like and he merely wished to offer his assistance. Gilbert and Anne make up and when he finds out she is crying because she misses him, he promises that things will go back to how they were before, having discovered himself how much he hated not having Anne in his life, telling himself he would gladly settle for just her friendship if it meant he had her in his life.
