Her therapist had told her to do it... that was what Rey repeated over and over again to herself as she scrolled through the options on the 'Professional Cuddlers' website.
Dr. Holdo had told her to look into it, and so she was!
But, unbeknownst to Rey, whatever shame and embarrassment she felt paying a stranger for physical touch was soon to be eclipsed when her boss walked past her desk and caught sight of what website she was on.

Each act of violence, each atrocity, was a message to her grandfather: "Look at me. See what I am capable of. See how I serve you."
And yet, here she stands, exiled to this glittering prison of a planet, about to be bound to a foreign prince. One who, by all accounts, should be her enemy, even in the tentative peace between their kingdoms.
Rey closes her eyes. She reaches out into the void, desperatly seeking the familiar cold embrace of the Dark Side. For a moment, she can feel the icy tendrils of power. They have served her well, once upon a time, but they have grown weak.
She has grown weak.
