“I missed you.” Shane blurts out, a force bubbling out of his chest like he can’t contain how much he loves him.
Ilya’s smile grows impossibly brighter as he steps into the row and leans down, placing an arm on the seat in front of him, cornering him in and making Shane look up at him. “You miss me?”
Shane could only nod. He knew he looked dopey but he didn't care.
ie. Shane and Ilya get roasted by the Centaurs about being codependent but they make a game out of putting some space between them (a sexy game obvs.)

He remembers their last hook up, a month or so before this. He thinks that’s where his brain had started to go on the fritz. When he’d just finished blowing Ilya in the shower and Ilya had hit him with ‘You need to get laid, Hollander. Waiting for a quick fuck every couple of months is not healthy.’ Shane had acted all indignant and puffy, but only because Ilya had hit a bit too close to home with that, and he’d been so cavalier about it too. Because yeah, maybe Shane had never made a conscious decision to do it, but he felt like he only existed in short hour long snippets when he could slip away and be with Ilya. And that fucking terrified him.
Then because Ilya was Ilya, he had to one, two punch him by saying, ‘I have ruined you. No one else would do.’ And Shane had to lock that deep in the caverns of his mind because of how true those words rang. He didn’t want it to be true, but it was.
“I think, maybe, this whole thing is starting to mean something different to me.”

Summary
A rewrite of the scene in The Long Game where Ilya tells Shane he can sleep with other people.
Following the argument, the tension between them reaches a breaking point. Two days after Shane storms out, a grainy paparazzi photo of Shane at a Montreal club surfaces, and Ilya spirals into a possessive, jealous rage. What starts as a confrontation in Ilya’s house a week later quickly devolves into a desperate, physical reclamation. Ilya abandons his logic, marking Shane and forcing him to admit that no one else could ever be enough.
