Non si vedono per mesi, mai, non ha importanza: basta che stiano l’uno attorno all’altro e tutto si ricrea, forte come era otto anni prima, anche se diverso, più flessibile, più instabile, più doloroso.
Federico si dondola piano sui piedi, impercettibilmente, insicuro sulla soglia dello spogliatoio degli ospiti. A Danilo si stringe un po’ il cuore: «Stai bene?», gli chiede.
Federico scuote solo la testa, e lascia passare molto tempo prima di aggiungere: «Non tornerò più qui.»

“Why do you love me?” he asks again.
I answer with something flippant. “That is like asking someone why they are addicted to drugs.”
He laughs immediately, which is part of the problem. Hudson laughs like a man who enjoys the shape of words more than their meaning.
But the analogy stays in my throat afterward.
Addiction.
