Summary
Ozai defeats Aang. The world loses faith in the Avatar. The war grows more terrifying. But Katara clings to the idea that the Avatar is still the answer... until Aang confesses why he still cannot access the Avatar State.
Refusing to be Aang's pretext for delaying his role, Katara leaves everyone behind. She sets out alone to forge her own destiny and stop the Phoenix King. Along the way, her resolve and fighting spirit make her a symbol of resistance, even against her will, for all those who reject the need for an Avatar to save the world.
Meanwhile, Zuko travels the world, negotiating and fighting for his people to prevent further massacres and fulfill his destiny, while falling more deeply in love with the woman who is saving the world without knowing it.
