    Summary

If it came down to a choice, Shane and Ilya would always pick each other, even if it meant going against everyone else's expectations and desires. Time and again, they're met with formidable proof that no one would accept their relationship, so down to the wire, Shane and Ilya have a choice to make: Do we stay and make it work? Or do we leave it all behind, and choose a life that gives us a future?
No choice will make everyone (or anyone) happy, but when you've been hiding so long, how much more can you take when the one thing still worth living for is in reach? Are you willing to hurt the people you love to choose yourself? Are you willing to love the people that have hurt you, if it means loving from afar?

    It was a dangerous plan.
    Perhaps a foolish one too.
There were lots of things that could go badly.
Things they probably hadn't even thought of yet.
And Rozanov held all the real risk here.

Or a marriage of convenience fic that starts in 2009 and changes the rest of the story.

    Summary

It's the 2017-2018 season, and Shane has decided to come out to his team. What he expects is acceptance or at least respect. What he gets instead is a team adamant at pushing him out.

When all their plans are crumbling, can Shane and Ilya weather the storm with a relationship that is, for all intents and purposes, still new? Or will they be strong enough to hold each other up when everything else is falling apart?

When the plan crumbles, all they can do is adjust accordingly.
