Summary
There were a lot of things that 20-year-old Kim Gyuvin knew. He knew that as the only child to a deaf mother, he was the sole bridge between her and the hearing world, the voice she needed. He knew that his family situation wasn’t the best, so he had to make full use of the university scholarship he had to make his mother proud. as soon as the hostess is gone, ricky whisks around to face gyuvin. “so what did you do wrong?”
gyuvin, with his arm halfway outstretched to grab the bottle of champagne in the middle of the table, freezes. “huh?” he says dumbly.
the look thrown his way is slightly impatient, dark eyes narrowed into a scrutinizing glower. “what did you do wrong,” ricky states again, “for your parents to marry you off to me.”
okay, now gyuvin really is worried that he’ll be presented with a third nipple in the armpit after all. “i don’t understand why you think it’s a punishment for me to marry you,” he says.

Gyuvin's shirt is still distractingly wet. The lake light catches on the bridge of his nose, the water on his eyelashes, the flush still high in his cheeks. He looks like every version of himself Ricky has seen so far got poured into one person: baseball boy, son in the kitchen, homecoming favorite, idiot in a bathroom, beautiful wet thing on a platform trying not to look scared by his own wanting.
