Summary
Atsumu has always been weak to Kita (a sentiment shared by his brother and Sunarin). It doesn’t help when he owes his career to the man who practically held his hand through the marine biology degree, as he couldn't even tell salmon and tuna apart unless they were presented to him as sashimi.
So when Kita makes a fateful phone call and ropes their trio into a mission whereby they have to stop a monster from terrorising a local lake, Atsumu expects an overgrown fish. A fish with hands, if that makes it any better. Certainly not the creature thought to only exist in tragic fairy tales and the fantasies of touch-starved sailors who find solace in sea cows.
Good thing the creature doesn’t seem to mind Atsumu too much—Osamu not finding his dead body at the bottom of the lake is an encouraging start.
Everything’s peachy, he guesses. Except that falling for his new acquaintance has never been on Atsumu's agenda.
Things become complicated when your love interest has an entirely distinct set of limbs from hips down, makes noises that only Aquaman can understand, and considers offering regurgitated fish to be the pinnacle of romance.

Summary
The beast in the woods first brought the famine, and then the plague that followed. The rice fields – once healthy and plentiful, burnt as though by magic on Kiyoomi’s final night in his own bed. The sacrifice and the saviour.
More a pawn than a hero. The virgin, is what the shrine keepers whispered in his father’s ear. Only an offering as pure as Kiyoomi could save them all.
That day his mother instructed the family's attendant to pick flowers on the edge of the village for Kiyoomi for his new betrothal. Upon receiving them, Kiyoomi cut the heads off the dianthus’ and left them by his mothers bed. A bad omen, the shrine keepers had insisted with quivering voices. Perhaps he is not the one. His parents sent him to the woods anyway.

“Fine,” he concedes, stepping aside to let Kiyoomi in. “But ‘m keepin’ the good pillow.”
“Of course,” Kiyoomi nods as he enters the room, quickly scanning it before setting his sights on the bed. “Thank you, Miya. I owe you for this.”
“Yeah ya do,” Atsumu says as he closes and locks the door, turning off the ceiling light before heading back to bed. He pauses as Kiyoomi settles on the edge of the small double bed, illuminated only by the soft glow of the bedside lamp. The golden light accentuates his sculpted profile and soft curls, making him look unfathomably handsome. Atsumu clenches his jaw and pulls his t-shirt down to hide the front of his boxers. Goddamnit.

Kiyoomi had loved Atsumu long, long before the rest of the universe did; back in their awkward pre-pubescent days when Atsumu’s incubus blood still sat dormant and quiet in his veins, back when Atsumu used to pop the collar of his polo shirts because he thought it looked cooler and grew out his bangs to hide his acne and tried to squash down the thick drawl of his accent to fit in better with the snobby prep kids.
Then Atsumu turned 16 and everything changed.

When an old photo resurfaces with damning evidence of his infatuation with a certain setter, Kiyoomi makes a new ally, creates a series of misunderstandings, traumatizes half the team, and still somehow gets the guy.

A fun fact about the Miya twins is that they’re fraternal, not identical. A less fun fact is that they look the exact same anyways.
The Black Jackals try to tell Atsumu and Osamu apart through some baby photos from before they had dyed their hair. To the untrained eye, this is almost impossible to do.
Fortunately, Sakusa Kiyoomi is anything but the untrained eye.

In-ho had scented him in the limo, after he won. He hadn’t meant to, but Gi-hun had been yelling at him, getting worked up, his scent spilling spiky and angry everywhere, and In-ho hadn’t been wearing his mask.
He had pulled in a lungful of harsh, astringent orange blossom that tasted like it was burning, it scraped across his tongue and down his throat like the ugly edge on cheap whisky. Then he had put on his mask that filters everything he breathes in, and knocked Gi-hun unconscious.
