Ciel wanted revenge. That’s what he thought, anyway. He knew that his revenge would come at the cost of his life. And for a while, he’d accepted that.
But the closer he got, the more terrified he became. He realized he had a lot to loose.
And then, a boy came into his life as one more thing he’d have to say goodbye to. A boy who also wanted that man who took everything from Ciel dead.

Zuko’s arms are locked tight around himself, shaking, breath snagging against Sokka’s chest. “Why are you being so nice to me?” he whispers, voice all frayed edges.
Sokka just kisses the corner of his mouth, soft like forgiveness. “Because I love you. And I like being nice to you.”
or, Zuko doesn’t know how to be touched without flinching, doesn’t know what to do with gentleness that asks for nothing back. But Sokka holds him like something sacred—cleans him up, keeps him warm, kisses the trembling out of his spine. Love doesn’t have to be earned here. Not anymore.
