Eddie wants a baby with Buck, wants the two-kid, white picket fence family with Buck, even though they've only been dating for just under six months; however, it's been basically a decade for the two of them. So... Eddie makes sure they have a kid. He punctures holes in condoms and hopes it'll be enough.

“So, you’re saying,” Eddie starts carefully, hoping beyond hope he’s wrong about this, “that Christopher can, in fact, lose you.”
Buck stays serious. He’s fucking serious. “Yes,” he says, as if that didn’t just blow Eddie’s chest wide open.
Or, the conversation I wish they'd had after the kidnap-debacle. (Buck still doesn't say anything about sacrificing himself for Eddie, but they get to the root of the problem anyway.)

Eddie’s shoulders start shaking from laughter.
“Theo, buddy, I don’t think—”
Theo groans as if Buck had personally insulted Rapunzel herself.
And Eddie, because he’s an asshole, says, “C’mon, Buck, I’ll even smolder for you.”
“No!” Buck says quickly. “I’ll—I’ll sing. I’ll sing the magic song.”
