Tess awakens not in her own home or her own bed but Jeff's. She had a lovely wakeup call in mind for him when that idea goes off the rails. Richard Tandy later makes an appearance to work with Jeff in the studio and then once he leaves, it's more fun and excitement for Jeff and Tess.

Tess returns to Jeff's place after doing some things back at her place. He'd had her duck out while he wrote a song 'Moment in Paradise' and upon her return, it was dinner first and then he then took her into the studio and played that song plus 'Ordinary Dream'. Things also got very heated, very quickly in which Tess climbed into his lap while at the mixing desk and then the real fun began.

It's the summer of 2000 and Tess's career had gone farther than she'd imagined. She had moved on in her life and had relationships with Graham Nash which almost led to marriage and Hugh McDowell which ended due to geographical issues and both of their lifestyles. When a pipe breaks and closes Tess's usual grocery store, she heads closer to the hills in LA to shop and a chance encounter brings it all back to her once more.

Tess and Kelly cross a line that Tess swore she never would. She regrets it. She is tempted to drink again and is saved from that decision by Jeff, of all people. He looks after her but the hint of finality hovers in the background and as the chapter closes, Jeff comes to the end of the line.
