“For the hundredth time, he won’t. Quit fucking distracting me.”
“Like we didn’t even think about the cameras—”
The safe pops unlocked without a squeak of complaint. Peter shifts on his elbows to crawl back and let it swing open. He huffs a relieved laugh under his breath. “See, he trusts me too much.”
“God knows you haven’t given him any reason to,” Ned grumbles.*
Or, Peter resorts to desperate measures to fulfil his spiralling addiction to heroin.

Summary
“Gotta- F’ck,” Spider-Man whimpers a bit, and Flash feels a sinking feeling in his gut. God, the injuries look pretty serious, and Flash probably isn’t even seeing the worst of it. Even the effort of speaking seemed to be too much.
“Masks gotta’ come off,” he finishes, and Flash’s heart skips a beat.
“It- okay, this is that bad,” he says, mind still unable to catch up, “Are you sure?”
“Yeah- jus’ do it,” Spider-Man says.
With trembling hands, Flash reaches up and grabs the fabric around his hero’s head. In one swift motion, the mask comes off.

Summary
“You’re not going to die, okay?” Lance promised, wishing from the deepest part of his heart and soul that it would not become a lie.
“Sure feels like it,” Keith whispered.
“You are not dying,” Lance’s voice was rough and frantic, trying to convince Keith as much as he wanted to convince himself. Keith’s eyes fluttered open, and he met Lance’s red-rimmed ones. There was such certainty and desperation fixated into them, that Keith was unable to contradict him.
“I’m not dying,” Keith decided to say, repeating Lance’s words. And even if it felt like he was lying to himself, something about the trust in Lance’s eyes made him want to believe that maybe, just maybe, this wasn’t a lie.
[or: a mission goes terribly wrong, Keith gets fatally injured, and Lance can only try his best to save him.]
