Summary
Sometimes the red string of fate breaks the boundaries of the atmosphere. Sun, a human teacher sent to the planet of Alder in the Afton colony's starship, has grown tired of space life already. Gray walls and uniforms alike don't make for an appealing future.
So, Sun decides to find his own points of interest. If only he didn't go and get himself kidnapped by one of the locals.
Or: Moon gets a granola bar. Sun gets a man-eating alien spider.

This will not have a regular posting schedule. I have like … so many other fics that I am also working on and this one tickles my fancy at the moment but I guarantee no regular post dates of any kind.
I love As Long As We Are Loved by ShiraCheshire and had the thought… well… if living dolls are kindof on-par with pets in-world… i totally respect the Plot Narrative Choice to have Sun/Moon not be picked up in Ch.3… but how many people see a dirty dog running around and go catch it just because they are good ppls? I wanted to run with that idea and wonder what might have been different for Sun/Moon if they HAD been picked up then.
AKA… this is an AU fic of As Long As We Are Loved so if you haven’t read that yet then pls go read it first and leave the OG author a Kudos and a Comment!!! Then come back and enjoy my silly little take on their genius worldbuilding idea. I take no credit for the incredible ‘magic system’ they have, that is 100% their work.

Unsure how to care for your new companion while juggling the struggles of a harsh winter and a fussy Mare, you do what you do best; hard backbreaking work.
Except someone doesn’t seem so happy about that.

You go to a sanctuary for living dolls and take in a broken porcelain jester. Successful adoptions are almost unheard of, but you’re determined to be one of those few miracle cases. The most important part is to love him, and you can do that easily. Coaxing him into moving on from the life he had before the fire is going to be harder.

Moon didn't pay much attention to the noise at first. Maybe he misheard it.

"Okay, that's odd…" Moon mumbled to himself as he put the machine down and looked around. Maybe it's Freddy or one of the animatronics waking up from their rest and looking for something. Nothing to worry about, right?

Sun and Moon have met many, many children of many ages from many walks of life. Some tended to be the angry, stubborn type. Which was totally okay! Everyone has bad days! This newest addition to their bunch of little angels did not have a ticket into the Superstar Daycare. In fact, the child wasn't in the system at all. Who was this boy and where did he come from? He could leave those questions to silly staff who dropped him off thinking he was an "escapee". Right now, it was time to turn that frown upside down! ...oh, and make sure he didn't actually become an escapee.

Summary
Gregory is usually very good at escaping bad situations. He was self-sufficient and did everything himself. He didn't need any adults telling him what to do. Unfortunately, a small heist goes wrong and his entire way of life is threatened. He'd heard jail was bad, but he was pretty sure kid jail in a daycare with babies and some overly peppy animatronic was worse.
