Summary
In which Astrid got to the cove just a few minutes too late, and Hiccup had already left. In which, six years later, the dragon raids are a thing of the past, but now a madman with a dragon army is threatening Berk. In which Astrid, now heir to the Chiefdom, convinces Stoick to ask the mysterious Dragon Master for help.
Hiccup obliges. It's his fight, after all.
However, he may have forgotten to anticipate how hard it would be to prepare for war alongside his old friends and family without letting them know it was him. But then again, what other choice does he have?
Toothless is finding the whole situation highly amusing.

Out of all of the ways Pomni had imagined leaving the Circus – which was a lot – this hadn’t even crossed her mind once.
Or, Kinger was the key to escaping the Circus all along, but nobody knew that, least of all him, until they all got stuck in a very dark room for a very long time on an adventure. Now they have to remember how to be humans again.

Summary
Ivy comes back to Rosewood Hills one last time in the wake of her aunt Evaline's death, to finish school with Martha before New York. Martha is ecstatic, and Ivy is too, but things still seem a little different from the last time they were together. It could have been how Martha can't stop her eyes catching on Ivy's smile when she dances, or her heart skipping a beat entirely when she laughs. Or it could have been the sickly orange marks marring Ivy's dark skin in the school changing rooms.

Clémentine knew they shouldn’t complain.
They wanted to anyway.
There were people with much harder a life than they, lacking so much as a roof over their heads or a candle to sit on the windowsill, but at least those people could live, could exist of their own accord rather than as an accessory to a not-quite-mother. Clémentine knew there were worse things to be than bored and silent, but they still wanted more.
