Mike is waiting for Will in the basement, a look of suspicious, nervous excitement on his face. He cleared the table and laid out upon it are two card games.
"Now, I know you’ll resist," Mike blurts out, stepping toward him. "But I think this will be good. For both of us! For when we... you know,” Mike trails off, “When we get partners.”
Will scoffs, stepping closer to inspect the titles.
Spill or Sip and Truth, Dare, or Strip.
Or: Mike suggests a spicy card game to help Will loosen up before college. It works a little too well, and suddenly they’re gambling with unresolved feelings, and clothes, that were meant to stay in place.

Mike shoved at his chest, gasping. "Don't - don't do that."
Will pulled back slightly but his hands still lingered on Mike's arms. Confusion flickered on his face.
"Don't do what? Comfort you? Mike, you don't have to do this on your own. I'm here. Please, let me help you."
Mike shook his head as sobs wracked him. "You don't get it."
"I do," Will insisted gently. "The book... it's bringing it all back. But we're past that now. We've won."
"No," Mike choked out, "it's more than that. It's you. It's always been you."
The words spilled, incoherent at first, sobs shaking his frame."I can't lose you again. I won't survive it."

Summary
The summer before college, Mike and Will move into a tiny studio together, ready to start their next chapter — only to discover their across-the-street neighbor has a very public, very active sex life. Their weekly “observations for research purposes” are all jokes and commentary…until one night the neighbor brings home a man, and something in Mike shifts. Suddenly the bit isn’t so funny, the spiral is very real, the lines start to get a little too blurry, and the curiosity feels a bit too personal. Unfortunately for Mike, the only thing more distracting than the view outside is his childhood best friend living three feet away.
