JJ’s jaw dropped. Hayden let out a weird, choking sound. Troy started laughing, but it also sounded like he was crying. Wyatt and Cliff looked at each other, huge smiles taking over their faces.
“He’s who I had sex with this morning,” Shane continued, oblivious to the table’s reactions. “Twice.” He added cheerfully.

It was supposed to be a casual night out with friends - until, JJ and Hayden show up, with Shane (his secret boyfriend).
Shane is panicking, of course, so Ilya pours him some vodka, as an emergency option. This turns out to be a mistake. Lips get loose, and secrets are revealed.

Hollander doesn’t chirp. He doesn’t argue. He doesn’t gloat about his second Stanley Cup. Instead he says, very calmly, “You can’t go to Russia this summer. You have to come to my cottage with me.” He sounds detached, almost.
Ilya wants to protest, but cuts himself off by retching. He doubles over, but nothing comes up. Now that he thinks about it, he can’t remember the last time he ate.
“When did this happen?” Hollander asks.
“I don’t know, okay?” Ilya says. “I started feeling – bad – earlier during awards -”
“No,” Hollander says. “When did you get bitten?”

Ilya is turned into a vampire. Shane takes him to the cottage to deal with the transformation, and maybe also with their feelings.

“What kind of skating is that? Is your arthritis acting up again?”
Scott’s age is Rozanov’s favorite topic, but now that Scott has come out, he shudders to think about what Rozanov will throw at him this season.
Or, 5 times Rozanov makes fun of Scott for being old, and 1 time he makes fun of Scott for being gay.

“Awe, so sweet to me, worrying. But no, I am in Moscow. I have no good cars here, only shitty Marussia B2. Stupid purchase. You know, the B2 is just B1 but with fancier clothes? Look better than B1, though. B1 look like low-money 80’s future movie.” He makes an annoyed sound. “No. I do not have word. научная фантастика. What is movie type that has flying cars?”
“Jesus,” Shane says, running a hand through his hair. “I don’t think I’ve ever heard you talk so much.”
“You like my voice, da? So is no problem, for you.”
“Fuck you. Do you mean sci-fi?”
Rozanov makes a triumphant sound. “Yes, that! Sci-fi. B1 look like that meme of a cat’s face covered in cream. Ugly car. So, at least I have better choice. I can look at it and not wish to drive it off cliff and into garbage land.”
“...You’re thinking of a landfill.”
Or, Ilya keeps calling Shane at odd hours to talk about nothing and everything, usually while he’s inebriated or sleep-deprived. Shane, for some reason he can’t quite rationalize, keeps answering.
