“So why the fuck are you here, then? Come to—to rejoice? To congratulate yourself, hm?” Ed’s voice is low and jagged, like someone’s thrown his vocal cords to the wolves. There’s a slur to the edge of his words that makes Stede wonder how much he’s had to drink. Stede tries to get his foggy brain up to speed.
“On what?” He asks, keeping his voice soft as he can make it. Ed makes a frustrated growl from the corner.
“On fucking me over, of course,” he says. “Wanted to try a new game, didn’t you? How many times can I smash my toys against the rocks before they fully break, by Stede fucking Bonnet. I won’t have it, y’know.” Ed shifts as he speaks, and Stede can see the glint of moonlight reflecting off of the glass bottle he’s clutching. It’s mostly empty.
(Stede comes back. It takes more than an explanation to get it right.)

The worst part about it all is that she can tell Dina wants it too. She hangs off her shamelessly just like she did with Brad, glossing her lips when they're just hanging around the house and solely wearing dresses now that she can use the weather as an excuse.
And Syd almost wants to give it to her, at least until she blinks and remembers Brad's head going off like a cherry bomb.

Nico barely hides a grimace at the face her girlfriend is making. “You heard all of that, didn’t you?”
“It was… difficult not to hear. You were loudly berating Chase.”
“I’m sorry for that,” Nico groans, hiding her face into her hands. “Did you also hear the very first bit?” she whispers, already mortified enough to last her a century.
“The one about how we don’t communicate anymore?” Karolina nudges her softly, so reassuring and kind it feels almost like an apology and Nico might just die here on the spot, “Not that we ever were very good about it if we’re being honest.”
