Laswell tilts her head with a bland smile. “You're here for an exercise.”
John glances toward the window, narrowing an eye at the unfamiliar stonework outside it. “In Toulouse.”
“Yes,” Laswell says, digging now into a different pocket and pulling out an evident passport. “You will need to arrive at the target location by sundown without detection.”
“Detection?” John repeats, glancing between Laswell’s face and the passport with a blink.
“Do you recall Las Almas?” Laswell deflects, firmly, voice determinedly neutral and wearing her most unreadable expression.
John suffers a vague thump of unease beneath his sternum. “Aye.”
“It has been decided that urban navigation is a useful skill to hone and improve on,” Laswell says, gesturing upward with a palm in a spinning motion that seems to be intended to encompass the situation around them. “So as an exercise, we’re doing it in a relatively controlled environment.”

Summary
Ghost was still sore. Most specifically, about the fact that the moment he had tried to get back to Soap, still in bed in his motel room back in Chicago, they had been told they needed to leave almost immediately. Bundled into a plane and sent home to sit, stony faced, at a debriefing that was miserable and tedious. One which even Laswell looked annoyed to be at, which Ghost chalked up to the fact that she had a beautiful wife, and a crusty little dog that needed walking, waiting at home.
Soap had glanced at him across the table, bottom lip jutting out until he caught himself and it was sucked back up into an expression that resembled something a bit more professional. But, Simon could see it in his eyes. The disappointment.

a sequel to caught me gawking, set directly after Ghost and Soap have returned, post-shagging and post-post-final MW2 mission in Chicago. Soap's in a jam and Ghost is in the shit because despite his neatly defined outward flaws, like being incomprehensible half the time, he's quite enjoying Soap's company.

Summary
There’s a teddy in Soap’s bed; a beaten-up, old brown bear. Well-loved, if the state of the fur is any indication. Ghost lets out a choked laugh, mostly at his own expense. He wishes he was there, suddenly, wishes he was by Johnny’s side as he walked through the doorway and realised that his childhood room was waiting for him like a time capsule. Wishes he got to see the embarrassed scrunch of his face, the way the tips of his ears would flush red.
Soap has a whole second life, outside of the SAS. He’s got a mother, and a poorly-decorated bedroom, and a bear. All Ghost has is a flat that will be the same it is today as it will be the day he dies, like he was never even here at all.

Ghost can’t think of anything to say to that so he just looks at Soap, like maybe that unsaid thing is about to come right out of his mouth and change everything between them forever, and if they can just look at each other he won't need to speak it out loud. He can feel it coming, knows eventually it will have to be acknowledged, that he can’t push it down for much longer. He swallows roughly.

Summary
Soap is a PhD student, doing his research in Antarctica on the behaviors and hunting habits of leopard seals. During his expedition, he becomes obsessed with a leucistic seal, who he's taken to calling Ghost.
His attempts at tagging Ghost for tracking purposes have all failed, leaving Soap frustrated, but determined to try again. He won't stop until he gets the data he needs for his dissertation.
At the same time, Soap is stuck in an escalating, heated flirting match with a hydroponics employee at another base. It's foolish to form romantic relationships with someone he knows will vanish from his life once their expeditions are over, but there's something fascinating about this man that he can't ignore.

Ghost fucks like a veteran- like a man who doesn't get to indulge often but always leaves a gift behind in the womb of his partners. He's the epitome of perfection in the art of seduction, hips canting, knees bending just slightly. Angling his pelvis so that the next sumptuous roll towards is right on the part of him that makes Johnny see stars.
Johnny was scrambling for purchase, one hand fisting the reins in a quivering grip while the other hand clawed at the wood of the bench.
Christ almighty.
Event without his hands, Ghost fucks like he's trying to rewrite Soap's very DNA. Like enough pumps at the end of the day in the pretty ruin of his abused hole will somehow change him to make Simon's efforts not be in vain.
So far he reckons he's denied Simon several children- sweet, fair haired little boys and girls whom Johnny just knows Si would bend the world for as a father. He's seen him do as much for kids caught in the cross hairs, that rough timbre soft and rounded when little one's were about.
Maybe he’d find a surrogate. A lass that looked enough like him to give them a fighting chance. A bundle for Simon to grow fond and soft over.
