"Steven. Thank you for coming to see me." The large glittering eyes of White Diamond cast down to him, pinning Steven in place as they always had. It had been some time since he'd truly been afraid of her, but something about her gaze always made him feel like a beetle pinned to a board for an entomologist to dissect. The look in her eyes wasn't so much accusatory, nor was it condescending as it had once been. No, today she looked at him with a myriad of emotions freely displayed. Fear, guilt, sadness, and hope in equal parts.

Wayne lets the front door swing shut behind him, rattling and smacking into the frame audibly.
“Jesus, Munson!” A voice rings out — the freezer fiend’s, and definitely not Eddie’s. “Took you god damn long enough!” The head finally pops out of the freezer. “I got tired of waiting and — oh.”
The stranger’s hand slips from the handle and the freezer door thumps shut. As does the stranger’s mouth when he looks right into the face of, not Eddie Munson as expected, but Wayne Munson.
Wayne briefly recognizes him as the Harrington boy.
or, the first time Wayne Munson meets Steve Harrington is a complete accident.

Summary
Eddie doesn’t like showing it when he’s scared. Wayne always knows, though. He knew every time Eddie appeared on his doorstep with no warning, small and trembling with a dirty, oversized backpack packed with snacks and worn stuffed animals. He knew when Eddie was taller, a little bit too skinny and too tough for his age, when his dad finally ended up in prison and the government finally let Wayne's kid be his kid. He knew when Eddie was in middle school, friendless and angry and paranoid, when Wayne stumbled upon a stash of porno mags while he was looking for drugs.
So he knows now.

Summary
Steve cops a faceful of Upside Down flower pollen in the tunnels, hours after Billy Hargrove tries to punch Steve's brain out the back of his head. Beyond the general hubbub of UD bullshit, Steve thinks he's made it out pretty much unscathed.
Months later, he makes a discovery. Turns out, he's much more intact than he'd thought. As in, his skin is baby smooth. Even the scar on his knee from his ill-advised ‘77 summer of skateboarding has disappeared.
OR: Steve Harrington can take a hit. He can take many hits. In fact, thanks to the Upside Down, there isn't a hit Steve can't take.
