Summary
Avery blinks; his mind wanders too much these days, to the golden armor and kind texts. To a house he doesn't know the location of, but wishes he did. His hands are holding a scalpel, and his team looks somewhat nervous. They, too, have noticed that Avery has not been himself lately. He gets early to work as always, leaves late, but he is not answering texts, not speaking to people, being robotic to patients, and just staring into nothing when he gets a break. He tried to keep moving forward, like the words on that letter, but it's easier said than done, and for all of Derek's knowledge, he had no idea of just how much his martyrdom would cost Avery.
OR Avery is a surgeon, dealing with grief by pretending his patients are Derek... until one day, a boy gets admitted even with brain death. Chaos follows.
