Summary
Thancred has just read an exciting book and wants Urianger to read it, too, in order for them to be able to discuss it and maybe even do the experiments described within the pages. Urianger is more than happy to encourage such commendable scholarly pursuits and agrees. Too bad he ends up grabbing the wrong book... a very wrong book indeed. Without realizing his mistake, he goes on to explore the tome to be ready for the dialogue - and the aforementioned experiments. Because of the... nature... of the illustrations, this takes him a long time, but eventually he seeks Thancred out for a conversation that will change their lives.

Urianger dropped his gaze, let it trace over the filigreed florals of the living room rug before he dared lifting it again. “Lies as to the nature of our relationship.”

In order to ease some of those worries, he may have told her that he was in a committed, loving relationship with his roommate, Thancred. He'd never actually expected her to come to visit, had never actually expected it to be an issue. What a shortsighted mistake that had been.
