Summary
Regulus has it all figured out. He keeps men on a rotating roster so none can get too close, works nights as a dancer to make the most of his chronic insomnia, and pushes everything he doesn’t want to remember about the past ten years into the recesses of his mind. It’s easier to pretend none of it ever happened.
But when James Potter crashes into Regulus’ life with his fancy sports car, wealth beyond measure, and devil’s smile, it marks a switch in the natural order of things. Summary
Remus is living a good life, he is. He just has to block his mind from lusting over his best, very straight, mate and it's bloody brilliant. But of course, when Sirius' behaviour starts to shift and comes onto him one night, "just to help each other out", Remus can't deny him. He should, this is a very very bad idea, but Remus is only human, and very in love with him.

“They do?” Sirius questions, dark browns furrowed.
“Yeah,” says Remus, biting at his lower lip. “Like mates with benefits.”
“And they’re still friends afterwards?”
“We’ll always be friends, Padfoot.”
This seems to convince Sirius, who takes a seat next to Remus on the bed, Remus’ bed.

Summary
At 16, Remus is a bit old to have never seen even a stray mark on his arm from his soulmate. Even once his soulmate writes to him for the first time, nothing really changes except for an increase in his concern for the boy on the other end.
They aren't in some sweeping, beautiful romance across the country. They haven't discovered they're only a town away. All he has to show for finally connecting is a nonsensical nickname and a lot of sad poetry too late at night.

A writing on your arm soulmate AU where Sirius and Remus fumble through the last difficult years of school, most of Remus's degree and the start of Sirius's music career before even learning each other's name, let alone meeting.
But once they do, nothing can stop two boys in love from living the life they deserve.
