Ella, who's loved ones who died way to soon and tormented for her stepsisters' pure enjoyment and her stepmother's revenge, decides enough is enough. Still living up to her mothers words, 'Have courage and be kind' she realizes that she can't sacrifice her life for people that will simply use her, she has to standup for herself no matter how hard it may be.

Her heart ached with a deep sorrow as she prepared to face her childhood house that once could be called a home, but now it was nothing more than a prison a place of pain and manipulation. She finally stood up, tears streaming down her face, she whispered a prayer for help, she needed courage. Just have courage and be kind. Surely this wouldn't be that bad right? As her chest heaved and her breath became unsteady, she focused on not having a panic attack.In. . out. . In. .
Ok she could do this. Have Courage and be Kind. Time to face the man she was going to be sold off to, time to face the man she was going to marry whether she liked him or not. Oh Lord help her.

The way he says the last part sounds strange, like it’s really important somehow that Eddie believes him.
“Okay,” he says, then adds, “Is that why you look like that?”
Eddie’s never met a fire with fists, but he wants Steve to tell him what happened—not just assume.
There’s a beat of silence, like Steve’s weighing his options, and Eddie knows a lie’s coming before Steve even opens his mouth.
“Yeah. Building caved in. We made it out—Robin and I. Paramedics checked me over and said I couldn’t drive, so I decided to walk.”
Almost ten miles, Eddie estimates. Sure. Totally normal thing to do in the middle of the night, battered and bruised, after escaping a fire.
But he’s pretty sure that’s all he’s going to get, so he settles on, “Good thing I came along, then.”
“Yeah.”

Summary

The adults in his life are willing to turn a blind eye to his ever-increasing issues, so long as they’re able to maintain their idea of a savior and keep their plans in place.When Harry Potter arrived at Hogwarts, Severus Snape's life became exponentially harder as he tried to field threats against a boy he didn’t even like and take up spy work again at the same time. With the return of the Dark Lord, Severus also suddenly had to work to protect his godson from the threat looming over them; if Draco fell into the Dark Lord’s hands like his father, he would never escape.
Severus is content to allow the obvious problems rising in Potter to be addressed by the boy’s other teachers, and the people who cared for him.
