if this fic isn’t in my top 3
ch 49 hands down my favorite chapter for so many reasons
Also 51 coupled with the song Saturn ;;

just finished
this fic is, in fact, in my top three. I decided to start reading this chapter while listening to Lonely. Lonely is a song I discovered very early on when reading this fic, and quickly came to associate it with Bakugou at his worst; aka, at the beginning of this fic.
The dichotomy between the beginning and the end is so astonishingly and satisfyingly wide— despite Bakugou still suffering the whole fic. Listening to Saturn the rest of the chapter was so good, it made me extra happy about the ending

update— it’s been a little over a year since I read this fic and I still think about it often. when i hear the song “lonely” or “saturn” i immediately think of this fic. in fact, there was a period of time where i couldn’t listen to either song because it would invoke so much emotion in me. literally this fic is so good

even more years later…. i now consider this as my top favorite fanfic of all time out of the thousands i’ve read… i think about this fic at least three times a month

in the big 2025 i still think about this fic. i am a big re reader, i love rereading/rewatching things. but even though this is my #1 favorite fic of all time, i have yet to reread it once. the reason why i haven’t yet is because the emotional impact this story had on me was so immense that i don’t have to reread it to re experience it. idk i still want to reread it tho bc its been a long time and i don’t remember the plot points as much anymore and i want to go on a crazy emotional journey again. one day, bro. one day.
p.s. i still can’t listen to Lonely or Saturn - i perpetually associate it with this fic and it brings up so many emotions to this day

Summary
Injury assessment: several cracked ribs, possible internal damage, a dislocated shoulder, a completely broken hand, an even more broken ego. Katsuki can barely breathe at this point, and his heart is beating so fast that it can’t be healthy with his condition. He realizes with horror and a dropping stomach that he might actually die from this. He might actually get taken out, not by the hands of a monster or a villain, but by the hands of the person he loves most in his life.
That’s somehow worse.Alternatively: Izuku is caught by a villain's mind-control quirk, so strong that not even One For All can break him away from it. The villain is desperate to run away, so to create a distraction, he gives Izuku only one order: that he should kill his partner and boyfriend Dynamight. It's up to Katsuki to face the consequences of that.
