“40.2 °C,” she stared at her old thermometer with a mix of concern and irritation. “Remind me again, why should I be keeping you alive and functioning?”
Her glare turned to Nikolai, curled up on the bed and visibly trembling beneath the covers of their expensive-looking eiderdown. He looked weary, despite only being ill for two days, his eyes watery and skin a tad paler than usual. The aspirin she’d been generously shoving down his throat clearly wasn’t of much help.
“Because I refuse to be killed by a river, comrade,” his voice was hoarse and shaky, but it hardly lost its snarky spark. “It’s embarrassing. You can kill me once I’m me again.”

After falling into a river and sleeping in his soaked clothes, Nikolai wakes up with a cold. Zoya has no choice but to care for him.

Summary
After the devastating events of his last Australian Q-pid expedition, Sam Porter Bridges is a man haunted by grief, guilt, and ghosts that refuse to stay buried. Caught between anger, resentment, and a flicker of reluctant empathy, Sam must decide whether redemption is possible for a man like Higgs, or if some monsters are better left dead in the tar.
In short: a post-Death Stranding 2, Higgs-focused fix-it, heavy on grief, depression, and the slow, messy process of learning how not to be a monster anymore.

Dougier doesn’t interrupt him, which is a good sign, encouraging him to continue, “I think you may underestimate his stubbornness: once you left, he almost fell over.” It’s a little bit of a lie—but it is not that far from the truth. “Our Meropide can’t use a dead judge—I am sorry, Boss, but I didn’t want him to take his last breath when you just left me here alone.”
20 years ago, Wriothesley went to prison, with Iudex Neuvillette presiding over his trial - after his release, he made a deal with the Garde and became an undercover agent. Now his mission seems to have a chance to succeed due to the distraction that Neuvillette's kidnapping is causing... Believing in the Iudex's impartiality and the goodness he has been doing for this city, Wriothesley's resolve and cover get tested: he had finally gained the mafia Boss' trust, but this also invokes his involvement with their hostage.
But maybe, there is still a way for Wriothesley to succeed while they both get out alive...
