“But now, I don’t care. As much, anyway. I like this. I like wanting things and being honest about it. I like being strong and scary sometimes.” She digs her nails into the back of her own neck, relishing the sting. “I think I like it more than I like being liked.”

The shattering of glass above her screams danger as she throws herself flat in the gravity stream to look up at what's causing such a ruckus, only to see two silhouettes and a storm of jagged glass from the shattered window shooting her way.
Time stills. Looking up at the glare of the midday sun, now unshielded by the sunroof, Agott's eyes strain, and yet she perseveres by peering through at the shadowy figures looming above. One petrifying thing about their forms comsumes the air in her lungs as she readies herself to scream, a silent plea running through her mind for her mother to hear, some fifty floors away.

More than once Agott catches the worried glances Professor Qifrey directs in her direction, the assessing looks of Professor Olruggio, the contemplating gazes of her sister-disciples. None of them burn as sharply as the gaze of the stranger from the other side of the street, thinking themselves subtle in their observation. During the meeting, Agott never once mentions it, never once gives it away that she has noticed it, but her attention is torn in half.
She doesn't expect to find them, but she does.
In which Coco left to join the Brimhats, and years pass. Agott does not move on, but perhaps she's not the only one.

Since when was Kagome sleeping in her bed? Didn’t she— Kikyo had—
There was a spare room.
“Kagome,” Kikyo mumbled, trudging over. “There’s a whole other bed for you.”
“No.”
Kikyo gaped at her, at her perfectly calm face. Her lips were so pink. “A whole other bedroom.”
This seemed to matter not one bit. Kagome’s gaze was hazy, clouded with alcohol and the beginnings of sleep. “But this one has you, so it’s better, right?"
Kikyo has always been in love with her best friend.

The easy part were the confirmed cases. For the more recent ones, there was backup video; for a lot of them, MI6 had stored its own copies for easy access. Joohyun could loop them at will, really pay close attention, find that break in the pattern that the agents never would, because they didn’t know what they were looking for. Find Wendy, slipping through the crowd like she belonged there, blending into the background with a calculated art that Joohyun could never dream of mastering.
