Summary
I hear air rush around me, it’s like I’m in a wind tunnel. I’m fighting to open my eyes, but they’re stuck. My eyelashes flutter against my cheeks and I take three deep breaths. So much for “5 things you can see.”
Suddenly, I hear the wind around me die down and feel a rough sensation from underneath me. I can’t see it, but I hear a hatch open around me. I quickly hear a crowd of people yelling something that sounds similar to my name.
“Doctor Grace.” I hear distantly; I recognize the voice. Somewhere between my waking up and landing wherever I am now, my eyes have finally decided to blink their way open.Through my fuzzy haze, her face is the only thing I recognize.

“Without Grace, all Rocky plural perish,” Rocky continued tirelessly, as if he’d been holding all of this back for ages. “All Rocky can do is love savior Grace for rest of life. Rocky Grace ♫♬♩♪.”
It nearly came as a surprise to be confronted with a new Eridian term, but Grace’s brain short-circuited upon hearing these unknown chords. Hardly able to put any sound to his voice, he uttered, “Need word, Rock.”
“Meant to be together forever,” Rocky explained.
Grace took a very shaky breath. “Soulmates,” he defined. “You think we’re soulmates.”
“Rocky no think,” he said, tapping one foot against the bunk to give strength to his words. “Rocky know.”

His best guess now, standing at the sink with his toothbrush still lodged in his mouth, is that it’s lingerie. How expensive the bag looks, the warning that he shouldn’t open it until she returns, it all adds up. His only dilemma with that guess is that Yelena messaged him not twenty minutes ago to “get dressed”. If it really is lingerie, then how the hell is he supposed to fit into it?

Ryland Grace hates that sentence.
Heroes volunteer. Heroes aren't shoved onto spaceships and sent light-years from home.
After learning that taumoeba can consume xenonite, Ryland gives up his chance of ever seeing Earth again and turns the Hail Mary around to save Rocky.
Rocky is thrilled.
Ryland is not prepared for Rocky's constant hovering, concern over his eating habits, refusal to respect personal space, or the sudden revelation that Rocky and his mate Adrian have apparently been looking for a third.
Three years to Erid is a long time to spend trapped on a spaceship.
Especially when Rocky has decided that Ryland belongs with them.
