I hear air rush around me, it’s like I’m in a wind tunnel. I’m fighting to open my eyes, but they’re stuck. My eyelashes flutter against my cheeks and I take three deep breaths. So much for “5 things you can see.”
Suddenly, I hear the wind around me die down and feel a rough sensation from underneath me. I can’t see it, but I hear a hatch open around me. I quickly hear a crowd of people yelling something that sounds similar to my name.
“Doctor Grace.” I hear distantly; I recognize the voice. Somewhere between my waking up and landing wherever I am now, my eyes have finally decided to blink their way open.Through my fuzzy haze, her face is the only thing I recognize.

It nearly came as a surprise to be confronted with a new Eridian term, but Grace’s brain short-circuited upon hearing these unknown chords. Hardly able to put any sound to his voice, he uttered, “Need word, Rock.”
“Meant to be together forever,” Rocky explained.
Grace took a very shaky breath. “Soulmates,” he defined. “You think we’re soulmates.”
“Rocky no think,” he said, tapping one foot against the bunk to give strength to his words. “Rocky know.”

How expensive the bag looks, the warning that he shouldn’t open it until she returns, it all adds up. After learning that taumoeba can consume xenonite, Ryland gives up his chance of ever seeing Earth again and turns the Hail Mary around to save Rocky.
Rocky is thrilled.
Ryland is not prepared for Rocky's constant hovering, concern over his eating habits, refusal to respect personal space, or the sudden revelation that Rocky and his mate Adrian have apparently been looking for a third.
Three years to Erid is a long time to spend trapped on a spaceship.
Especially when Rocky has decided that Ryland belongs with them.

After the Taumoeba leak, after I decided to die after all and turned my ship around to save Rocky, after Rocky's frantic calculations about food supplies, Taumoeba multiplication rates, and human caloric intake needs, after we realized that with some rationing and luck I would make it, but that we were headed toward the unknown territory of trying to rapid-prototype me a life support system and synthetic food supply on an inhospitable planet: after all of that, after everything, I shouldn't have been surprised that it only took a few months on board the Hail Mary for things to get weird.

It is a point of contention at times, especially when it leads to him taking an excessively long amount to get dolled up. However, the prim and proper man, in the throes of pleasure, has no qualms with disheveled clothes, messy hair, tears streaming down his cheeks, drool dribbling out of his mouth…
And Sebastian loves it. So much so that he develops a bit of a fixation on it—sue him, he is just just a man, and a man of passion at that.

“You ask them, then,” Jacob says. He’s utterly rooted in place by how the sharp lighting makes Sebastian’s eyes a blue so clear he could drink from them, his hair being cast into the brilliant golden glow.
“Alright,” Sebastian hums, fingers tapping the neck of his cocktail glass. “Are you trying to take me home?”
Jacob is struck speechless for a moment. He hadn’t expected to be called out for his intentions so brazenly, used to playing cat and mouse with those he was trying to court.
“Yeah,” he says, having to swallow dryly to get the words to come out. “Yeah, I am.”

A stabbing pain shoots into the back of my neck and all I can feel is my body turn heavy. My arms stop struggling and my feet go numb. I can barely keep my eyes open as my body shuts down, but the fear never stops. I can hear someone talking over me. It doesn’t reach my ears.
