For Matthew, Ice hockey gives him a break from a disjointed world of frustration. Ever since he came out to his local ice hockey community he has been wary of the word 'boyfriend' and the connotations that came along with it. For this reason, and the fact most hockey players are stereotypically notoriously and utterly straight, the Canadian has kept his love life locked away.
So of course fate has this incredibly hot- and actually gay dude- pull Matthew closer on the ice., flirting as if the last few years of his life hasn't been so lonely. Just his luck.
