    Summary

Blood drips from his mouth and nose, running into his eyes and matting his hair. He feels as much as hears his ribs crack, and only then does he cry out. It’s a desperate, strangled thing, clawing its way from his throat more from the shock than the pain itself. Through the bleariness of his vision, he thinks he sees Coupé smirk with satisfaction.

Episodes 7 & 8 but the torture was worse and had actual consequences.

The Z-team plots to make sure their favorite dispatcher is well fed.

Arthur could lie and say it only became a habit when John took over his vision. It would be a comforting lie. One he could start believing himself if he gave it more time to sit.

Or, Arthur indulges in prolonged holding while trying to convince himself it isn't a kink he's always had. See the tags.

    Summary

The long and short of it was, there was no cure for Jack’s insomnia, but there were some remedies that could ease his suffering. Meditation sometimes helped on the milder flare-ups, and there were drugs that offered solace that he used only sparingly, lest he form a habit.

…and there had been one other treatment he’d responded well to, back when he’d still been at university. A treatment that had delivered him the greatest relief, and yet had the potential to be the most dangerous course of all.

“Quincey Morris…” he mused aloud. Why had Arthur had to bring him up?

    ---------
A story told in the past and the present. The past that Jack tries not to let himself remember, and the present that he suffers through until a moment of exhaustion-driven weakness forces him to confront it.

    Summary

“Lord above, the room was positively stifling. He tugged at his tight collar, desperately wishing he’d opened the window. When Quincey’s hand returned to anchor itself above his knee, a humiliating sound bubbled up from Jack’s throat.

‘Do you want anything, anything at all from me? A little comfort to ease you? You’re always taking care of us, but who takes care of you, old fellow?’”

In the wake of Lucy Westenra’s rejection, Jack Seward throws himself into his work at the asylum, haunted by longing. When a disarming Texan by the name of Quincey Morris pays him a visit, an inopportune physical reaction leads to a most improper afternoon.
