Summary
She couldn't bear to leave Dewey behind. Her dad dragged her away as she continued to cry. Dewey watched her with pleading eyes, whining and wondering why she was leaving him. He tried to follow her, barking and tugging at his leash. That moment marked a turning point for Lucy in how close she allowed herself to get to others. She felt an acute sense of betrayal and abandonment, a painful lesson that love was temporary and could be taken away without warning.
aka: Lucy and Kate’s decision to adopt a pet leads Lucy to confront and heal from the deep-seated traumas of her childhood.

"You still look like a movie, you still sound like a song, my God, this reminds me, of when we were young"
—
Kate Whistler, a writer who hides behind a pseudonym, after a mysterious phone call, travels to Hawaii with the intention of closure, but what she didn't know when she impulsively bought the plane ticket, is that the pages of the novel of her life would be written again — her "the end" was just a "to be continued"

Summary
“Then why did you just kiss me?” Kate asked with frustration.
“Because I…” Lucy looked down with shame.
“Because you’re still attracted to me. Because you still want me. You just won’t take the chance on me again,” Kate concluded.
Lucy swallowed and looked at her sadly. She gave a barely noticeable nod. The admission, though it hurt, meant that they were actually getting somewhere.Bookmarked by BigFed

Summary
Just writing my way through some of the classic NCIS tropes, but entirely from memory bc I'm not going to go rewatch the original NCIS (as much as I'm into the new Hawai'i one). First up, trapped in an elevator.
This fic is basically crack that asks the question, what if Kate Whistler had the worst possible hangover in the world?
