Luckily, he isn't alone on board the Hail Mary. Unfortunately, his company include two dead people, a guy in a coma, and an eldritch god who's shacked up in his mind.

He points to the tree again. "I came from there."
The man scowls. "Who are you?"
He opens his mouth to answer, but nothing comes out. He doesn't know what words to use.
Who am I?
Why doesn't he know the answer to that?
After Grace awakens from his coma and begins regaining his memories of Earth, other memories emerge as well. Ones about a dying tree, the black void of space empty of stars, and a man named Simon.

Summary
No one in their right mind would try to stowaway on a suicide mission, so no one thought to tell the Hail Mary what to do if a heavily injured human suddenly appears onboard towards the end of the journey.
Simon meanwhile, wakes up in a strange place filled with corpses where robotic arms keep trying to grab him.
