"No need to thank me for not being Hera," Amphitrite dismissed. Percy took a sip of tea. "That is what you meant, isn't it?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. For once, Percy learned from his mistakes and stayed quiet, though he did give her a bashful smile to confirm the sentiment. "Hm. Well, either way, I owe you thanks. Not many children would agree to spy on their father for me."
Percy put the cup down. "I'm not spying on him," he reasoned. Amphitrite scoffed. "I just happen to be in many of the places he is when he's in the mortal world." A long pause followed, and Percy rolled his eyes. "Yes, he was seeing a mortal woman. Her name is Lea."
"You owe me twenty of your mortal dollars, child."
Percy bitterly slapped the paper bill on the table between them.

“Why do the gods not care about us?” she asked instead of acknowledging his words.
He tilted his head to the side a little, as if considering her words. Then he frowned. “They’ve lived for eons. For them, mortals are like flies. They come and go in the blink of an eye. One death doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things,” he told her.
Her eyes filled with tears again and his face became blurry.
“I hate the gods,” she decided. “They suck.”
“They suck,” he echoed.

Kind of a retelling of the story, only Percy's a minor, relatively new god, so there'll be some changes.

"Some students find it hard to find a poem that they identify with," she said simply, even tone belying the gravity of the look she was giving him. "I…I can imagine that you, perhaps, might be one of them."
For a moment, he just stared back at her, heart now thumping almost painfully fast as he tried to decide how to respond to that. She was right of course, but now that the moment he'd been waiting for had definitely arrived, was he really prepared to do this?
"Are we talking about poetry?" He finally asked, mouth dry, as though he didn't already know the answer to his own question, "Or are we talking about…something else?"
Or, a week in the life of Percy's senior year, featuring: a poetry project, a swim meet, prom, several identity crises, and maybe, just maybe, a long-overdue conversation with a certain sharp-eyed teacher.
