[EURYDICE turns around. Both ropes around their waists go taut. There is a pause.]
EURIDICE: You turned around.
[Another pause]
EURYDICE: So did you.

This is the bibliography for my fic "Viverunt Viri et Serviunt." Enough people on discord mentioned they were interested in seeing my sources that I decided to post it. Feel free to ask questions or recommend sources in the comments. The bibliography is alphabetized, but I do reference where I use each source if I had a specific place I was thinking about the source. I update the bibliography every chapter I post.

Summary
Sora awoke with a gasp, her hands desperately grasping for her own throat. She had left claw marks on her arms while she slept, and the only thing she could hear was an echo of nothingness rattling back at her in her head.
“Darkness rises when silence dies,” she said aloud, to nobody, and then again. It was the only thing that she could hear in her head other than the oppressive, shifting darkness, and she held onto the words like a lifeline, as if they could save her from some darker fate.

CHORUS: I ask the Gods for many things. I ask them how to burn a body, how to forsake the ones I love, how to clean the blood off an axe-edge. I ask them what is pious and how to find my way to beauty, I ask them how I get revenge on a god and a king, I ask them to tell me about safety when I am unsafe in my bed. I ask the Gods how to be a slavemaster, how to be a castle lord, how to be a king. I ask, and sometimes even receive an answer.

Summary
If one tried to point to the moment when Caesar's fate was sealed, they would probably say it was when he was elected dictator for life. Maybe they would say it was sometime in between his second and third consecutive triumph, or when the civil war began, but they would all be wrong. Caesar’s fate was sealed thirty-seven years before it happened, when Servilia, sister of Cato the younger and husband of Marcus Junius Brutus, decided she was sick and tired of giving birth to girls. Thus, Quarta was renamed Marcus Junius Brutus the younger, and he was to be Servilia’s son.

Fulvia took one look at him when he returned home and snapped, “Wash your hands before you eat.”
“I’m not eating,” Antony responded just as acerbically. They were both like that- stressful situations made them lash out and cling to the things they could control.

ALL: Things were different then.
POLYXENA: I tell you this not to elicit pity,
CLYTEMNESTRA: I don’t want your pity. I always looked up to Medea when I was a girl.
PENELOPE:I loved Arachne,
HELEN: I admired Psyche, though I was always more of a Pandora.
HECUBA: Why are you saying all this?
CASSANDRA: [Cutting in, looking directly at HECUBA] Because there’s a place in our stories for a woman who kills two children out of spite.
HECUBA: They were not my own.

Summary
BRUTUS
When Brutus was a child, he learned about all the great republican heroes. He was the descendant of Lucius Brutus, and a scion of Rome, a city founded on the killing of kings. He was taught as a child what bravery was, and he kept his principles even until the end of the Republic.
SCAEVOLA
Gaius Muncius, a young boy of noble birth, became indignant. He thought it was a shame that even under kings Rome had never been besieged by enemies, but now, while free, they were blocked by the Etruscans whom they often outfought. He thought this must be rectified through something brave and daring.- Language:

Summary
This is a story that cannot fathom being told in English, do you understand? It would be a ἁμαρτία- a sin. I wrote this story out fully in Greek before putting it back into English, and then I burnt the English and wrote it again in Greek, and then I realized it will only ever be read in English, so it went back in the vulgar tongue. But some things are not meant to be translated. Still, we will make do with the imperfections of our own language.

Summary
“My love,” said Goncharov, spreading his arms wide.
Katya laughed, loud and bitter. “All this, and you thought it was love? My dear Goncharov, do you think love looks like this? Like-” Katya raised her head and spread her arms to perfectly mirror Goncharov- “Like this?”
