Summary
Carter’s parents have always teased him about his tendency to take in strays. It started when he was three years old and brought a rabbit with a broken leg from their yard to his room, claiming that since it was hurt, it needed his bed more than he did. The animals changed over the years, ranging from birds with damaged wings to a three legged puppy from the shelter he volunteered at in high school, but the feeling of needing to protect something so lost and vulnerable never went away.
He felt the same looking at Scott’s boyfriend alone on the ice.
_____After a historic cup win, none of the Admirals know quite what comes next. They do know two things:
1. They’ve all got their captain’s (and by extension his boyfriend’s) back.
2. It’s time to party. -

Summary
is he being mugged right now?
He hears the guy yelling something at him, but in his panicked state, he can’t understand the words he’s saying.
He must not react fast enough for the other man, because his head is slammed back against the brick, and Dennis definitely can’t understand him now— not over the ringing in his ears.
He feels his backpack being pulled away from him, and he thrashes, kicking at the other man— connecting violently with his knee.
”YOU BITCH!”
Well, he understands that, at least.

Summary
The New York night air was cool, charged with the city's peculiar energy. They walked in silence for a few blocks, the sound of their footsteps and breathing mixing with the distant traffic noise. Until Scott stopped under a streetlamp's light, pulled Kip close and kissed him again, unhurried, without an audience.
"Home? So you can fuck me." Scott asked, his mouth still close to Kip's.
"Home so I can fuck you." Kip confirmed.

Summary
As far as he’d seen, Scott had never fought over it during a game. Hockey players were, to Kip’s understanding, Neanderthals who were prone to dropping their gloves at the slightest provocation. Scott hardly ever fought anyone, and the bruises he’d borne after those ugly games had been defensive. Instead of fighting, Scott skated harder, played better, scored goal after goal until there could be no doubt as to his skill, his strength, despite…well, despite the other thing.
