"It became apparent even as he was slowly waking up for the day that something was… off. Groaning, Gregor grabbed his glasses to see what was wrong with him this time. He didn’t even make it out of his bed before he realized that something was missing. All of the previous changes that he had experienced usually ‘gifted’ him with something new. Never had it taken something from him. With growing horror, Gregor ripped the innocent blanket off of him like it was the one at fault.
Looking down, Gregor felt himself die a little. The metamorphosis had eaten his penis. At the realization that he still had to go to work today, with or without his penis, he died all the rest of the way."

His reserved nature reminded Heathcliff of his beloved’s increasingly passive nature as she grew older. His smile and eyes held the same patience and faux understanding as hers. The way he leaned against the window while brushing his hair in the morning reminded Heathcliff of early mornings spent watching his beloved in the garden.
He hated every single one connection his mind forced him to make.
In the City, everyone is born with a red thread, only visible to them, that connects them to their one and true partner. A few days ago, Heathcliff’s thread led back to the gloomy manor of Wuthering Heights. Now, it led elsewhere.

Meursault helped her through numerous similar incidents: Don Quixote was prone to a kind of righteous fury that inspired laps in her otherwise flawless judgement. Whenever that happened, the man was the first to rush in and restrain her. All he usually needed was to grab her and leave her weaponless; he’d then hold her until she calmed down. Just held her, maybe talked to her a little. She’d soon see things for what they were again and the woman would be back in working order. It was so extraordinarily new to Don Quixote: a judgement without degradation and a punishment without pain. At that moment, she wanted him to feel that: to share what he made her learn.
Meursault has an anger outburst and Don tries to comfort him in the ensuing moment of weakness.
