Sometimes Zoro still finds himself looking for a moment too long, his touch lingering and something in him wants before it is stifled.
He wants to reach out with touches that are platonic but with meanings that aren’t. He wants to pinch the back of his elbow with affection, not annoyance, and his stomach churns when he can’t make sense of the thought and tries his damndest not to.
Nothing changes except for everything.
Zoro will pull, and will twist, and will pry and will split himself apart to protect his crew. There are a great many things Zoro would promise Luffy without any hesitation, any number of vows he would make in a single breath. But this cannot, and will not, be one of them.

Summary
Zoro’s hands are big, thick and knuckly and covered in calluses from his swords. He has a strong grip, too, and strong muscles because he trains them to be strong.
None of it explains the way Luffy’s body lights up when Zoro clasps the back of his neck, like every nerve is alight and trained on the palm cupping the baby hairs at the back of his skull. His stomach knots over itself and he wants to eat everything in Sanji’s kitchen. Zoro’s skin is a little rough and sweaty from fighting and warm.
Zoro is close, his forehead nearly butting Luffy’s and Luffy couldn’t move if he wanted to, trapped there by the closeness and the touch that makes him aware of Zoro’s skin against his in a way he’s never been before. Zoro’s eyes bore into his, digging deep into Luffy and dragging out—something, buried in the base of his spine. He feels like the earth is tilting, and freefall seems like it might be fun.

Blood oozes down his face, dripping, falling, pooling.
Luffy's fists stay lax; The glass shattered against him is not enough to crack his spirit to pieces. Through boundless mockery, his resolve remains unbreakable.

"Have you tried it?" Luffy asks, offering his bottle. His cheeks are warmer than usual, the flush traveling all the way to the tip of his ears.
Zoro adverts his eyes, certain the alcohol is to blame. "I haven't."
"Really?" Luffy sounds breathless, surprised. "You should. It's really good!"
"Thanks, captain. But I'll pass. I'm not a fan of sweet things." he says, eyeing the bottle, then Luffy, "Too sickening."
Luffy wrinkles his nose in disdain. Then halts, his eyes widening momentarily. There's a promise of a challenge in his smile. "You don't know what you're talking about."
Or, Zoro gifts Luffy a bottle of sweet alcohol and Luffy is very determined to show his swordsman just how good it tastes.

The thought felt like a hole ripping open inside of him. He could have killed the person… the thing. That meant the most to him.
“Hmm..” Hikaru hummed, drawing Yoshiki’s attention back to him. With a nod, he seemed to come to a conclusion. The shorter boy hopped onto the bed with a determined look in his eye, grabbed Yoshiki’s wrist, and pulled it towards himself.
”uh- what’re you doin’?” Yoshiki mumbled, brows furrowing in confusion as Hikaru opened his mouth.
The boy in question met Yoshiki’s eyes and answered him with full confidence; “Makin’ it even!”

Or, Hikaru tries to make Yoshiki feel better about biting him by… biting him back. And poor Asako is too smart for her own good.
