Jonathan’s head lolls to the side, and he smirks at him. “I wasn't trying to insult you,” he says, “sorry. I just meant- I’ve been kind of aimless, lately, so. I guess I’m trying to say thank you. You’ve helped.”
Steve snorts. “What, because I’m another person for you to take care of?”
The joke falls flat between them, and Steve suppresses a wince as Jonathan considers him for a long moment. “Is that what you think you are to me?” he asks quietly after a beat, and Steve’s heart leaps up to somewhere in his throat.
Being friends with Jonathan is only weird if Steve makes it weird, right?

Summary

It's December 2010, and without Percy's help in the war, Gaea and her giants claimed victory and drove the gods into hiding. With the Mist fallen and the world crawling with monsters, Percy must seek out the demigod survivors at Lupa's guidance as they prepare to make their final stand.
Or an AU, dystopian retelling of Heroes of Olympus with a lot of plot twists: the canon divergence is not what you think it is, and the original plot gets entirely upended.

Summary
The idea of worship was not one that appealed to Alhaitham- who saw the divine merely as higher beings to be observed and studied. Worship was a hyperbole borne from the act of providing attention, and he saw no use in it.
And yet- and yet, he would be all too willing, without even a second thought, to give into that same hyperbole for one person and one person alone; for mere worship was not enough for him.
(Alternatively: After a decade of horny pining, Alhaitham catches Kaveh red-handed masturbating to him, and decides to fuck his senior senseless, like he should have years ago.)
