Summary
Three years ago, Samira Mohan left the Pitt. She's spent every day since building something quieter: a town practice in rural Vermont, a waiting room full of people who know her name, and a pace nobody has ever once called too slow.
Jack Abbot finds out where she went from a man in a conference bar who doesn't think much of her.
There's an attending post opening in January. It's a real job, it's his to fill, and it makes a very good reason to drive six hundred miles north. He tells himself that the whole way there.
**************************************************
Or: An autumn Hallmark-inspired, pumpkin-spice-covered fic. (i.e. if you just want the cast of the Pitt living out every holiday cliché going, you're in the right place.)

Summary
She’s blushing again, deeper than before. She wouldn’t be surprised if there was steam rising off the top of her head. “Dr. Abbot—”
“It would be my actual honor. Purely for the love of the game. We work at a teaching hospital. You love research.”
Samira does love research. She’s too drunk for this.
No.
She’s not drunk enough.

Summary
Jack Abbot hasn't dated since his wife died. When he asks her to help him navigate the world of online dating, she says yes, because she's logical, and helpful, and leaving in six months anyway. None of those things protect her from falling anyway.
Or: a compilation of texts that made Samira fall more and more for Jack Abbot.

Summary
“What does Dr. Langdon being back have to do with my, uh…my problem?” Mel asks, chewing her bottom lip.
Samira and Trinity exchange loaded glances.
“Mel, c’mon. You two are…not exactly normal about each other,” Samira says gently.
“What is that supposed to mean?” Mel says, affronted, her limbs stiffening in defense.
“Whoa, chill, Melcontent,” Trinity starts, waving her hands placatingly. “She just means that Langdon clearly wants to fuck you. And it sounds like you may want to fuck him back, maybe?”
Mel coughs as she chokes on her own spit.
“What?” she blurts out, wheezing.

Summary
“You’ll have to give me a list sometime.” Samira breaks off a corner of the croissant and pops it into her mouth then, as she chews, rips off another piece and offers it to him. Jack leans forward and eats it from her hand, soft lips against her fingers.
“A list?”
Samira nods. There is a crumb on his lower lip. His scruff is thicker than the last time she saw him, at handoff two days prior. He showered before coming in, silver curls still slightly damp. “Of the things you won’t do.”
Jack smiles. Licks his lips. Doesn’t shift his gaze from hers. “It’s a short list.”
