Summary
Hwang Inho desperately needs money. He is out of a job, up to his ears in debt, and his wife's hospital bills are overdue. So when he is approached and offered a chance to make a lot of money quickly all by partaking in a 'game' he takes it, despite his instincts telling him otherwise. Suddenly thrust into a life or death situation, Inho must do what it takes to win - all he has to do is out live 455 other people.
(Or, before Hwang Inho was the Front Man, he was a Squid Game contestant. The 28th Squid Games have their own story to tell).

Summary
Jae Mi shines, she grins and twinkles like a young star. There is so much life ahead of her.
And Hae Jo? Hae Jo is a star that is already dead. He has been dead his whole life, what he thought was living was actually just the remnants of his light shining down on the Earth. He can feel himself flicker, like a flame in the wind, growing dimmer and dimmer.
He wants to live. He wants to shine too. Hae Jo wants to shine next to Jae Mi and cast her world in a brilliant light. (This kind of thing has never been up to him anyway).

Summary
The dead will be heroes, they tell Jeon Tae-Sung. They will be given a hero's burial.
With what bodies? The rescue team left them there, everyone left them there. Tae-Ryeong is in the sea. He is drowning and drowning and drowning.
The press is saying the twenty two remaining sailors are lucky to be alive. They know nothing. They don’t know what lucky means and they don’t know what sacrifice is either. They don’t know what it means to live. Tae-Sung is dead, he died with his brother.
What is left is a breathing corpse, soaked to the bone with sea water.

Summary
Sometimes Chae Ok feels like the cherry blossoms are mocking her. They grow and die and grow and die year after year while she is stuck in some terrible in-between.
Each year they bloom to remind her of how long it’s been. Of how she is still the same.
The sketch of Tae Sang she keeps in her jacket pocket burns, threatening to sear a mark into her skin. Not that it would matter. That wound too, would heal just like all the others.

Summary
The family portrait hung in the living room stares at Eungyeol.
He stares back, at himself in it. A photo, a proof that he exists in this world. He doesn’t remember taking it. He’s never had a grandfather to stand behind and pose with. It’s not really him anyways. It is a completely separate Eungyeol who didn’t have to grow up in a boxcar for a house. Who never had to fight his dad to try and play music. The Eungyeol of this world has only ever put on a mask to hide his identity from adoring fans, not the crushing disapproval of his own family.
The Eungyeol of this present doesn’t know what it’s like to drown.
(or, Eungyeol comes back to an unfamiliar present and struggles to find his place).
