Summary
After the gang loses to Vecna, everyone is trying to deal with the loss in their own way. As everyone tries to cope, Steve begins to have dreams—ones that only have Eddie Munson in them—and feels the guilt of leaving Eddie behind driving him crazy. Only as the nights pass by, he feels comforted by and connected to Eddie, not only laden with the heaviness of guilt.
One night something happens that makes Steve question everything, and he discovers there may still be a way to save Eddie.

“No, no, no.” Steve is shaking his head, waving a hand at Eddie who’s still half-hovering over Steve, but moving back to give him more space. “I— you’re fucking real, man? This isn’t something in my head? Jesus Christ.”
“Oh, Stevie.” Realization washes over Eddie’s face, making his features soften and then falter a little. “You didn’t think that this was real? That I was real? ”
“Shit!” Steve has half a mind to put his fist through a window because this is—how is this even possible? “All this time. All this time you’ve been sitting here, thinking, what? That I’m just leaving you behind?”
