The smells of citrus and old books in the air.
Afterward, all he could hear was the thumping of the old railroad and the wheels.
Thumps. One after another. Rhythmic. Constant. Lifeless. Like a heart beating in a long dead body.
The eyes behind the sunglasses, inhuman, observed him.
He looked back at her.
And smiled.Her parents told her, “Never go out at night.” Arcadia’s history of missing children and unsolved murders was enough to scare even the bravest—but Claire never obeyed them before, and she wouldn’t now.
Turned out they were right.

Yesterday was great.

Oh, and also he’s secret identity is a glamour mask that hides him as a troll and now…for some reason there are giving him stinky clothes to eat.

The man was still, simply watching him in this silence. As the train took a sharp turn in the dark tunnel, an ear-piercing screech echoed through the air. None of the passengers reacted; it was just a part of their daily routine.
The floral and citrus-like fragrance.
Afterward, all he could hear was the thumping of the old railroad and the wheels.
The smell of death itself.
Thumps. One after another. Rhythmic. Lifeless. Like a heart still beating inside a long-dead body.

Jim’s train of thoughts was suddenly cut short as Bular reached him. “Today you die, Trollhunter,” he rumbled. “Yet another Trollhunter killed on this bridge. How…pathetic. The amulet never should have chosen you.”
He raised his two swords and Jim cowered, shielding himself with his trembling arms as he prepared to meet his fate.
Bular’s blade glinted as it came down, and Jim squeezed his eyes shut—
The blades hit, crashing down with the force of a full grown Gumm-Gumm, but…they didn’t quite hit where he expected.
His shoulder and head screamed in pain simultaneously and while Jim knew he shouldn’t scream to not give the satisfaction of his pain to Bular, the sheer agony made him cry out loudly.
“Expecting the sweet release of death already, Trollhunter?“ Bular chuckled. “Oh, no. I intend to drag out your death as long as I can.”
Or, this is an AU where the fight with Bular and episode 13 went a whole lot worse because Jim had only had like two weeks training and he had never even fought anyone before he started training.
Also, because I like hurting Jim, and this seemed like a reasonable way to do it.
