Summary
In 2010 Edward Teach found fame in his early thirties and his first large purchase was a sprawling house set on a hill that his mother had once worked in. He wanted to give her the world now that he had the money to make sure she always had everything she wanted.
He was surprised when a Bonnet came through the crumbling wall that surrounded the house, cheerfully greeting him with a sickly sweet confection and a smile that it was easy to fall into. For everything he'd heard about the Bonnets growing up, this man seemed to be the exception.
In the present, Edward regretted never listening to the rumors and warnings about the Bonnets, because he had fallen in love and seen the reality of what that meant. Returning home for his mother's funeral all he can do is be grateful this is the last time he'll ever have to be in a town with the man that crushed him.

A part of him wanted to walk up to Teh and wave in front of his face the fact that he hasn’t quit acting, that he worked his ass off to be in Anantasart, that even though Teh considered himself to be better than Oh-aew, they still ended up in the same course.
Another part of him wanted nothing to do with Teh at all—the same part that feared if Teh had learned more ways to make Oh-aew doubt himself compared to six years ago.
Or: After their childhood fight, Oh-aew and Teh meet again in college.

“Ma?! Ma, what’s wrong?! Did you fall down, are you hurt?!” cries Teh, desperately checking her mother’s body for injuries until she grasps him tightly by the wrist.
When he looks at her in the eyes, Teh finds something in there, something that he had seen only once many years before, when she had told him that his father was no longer with them.
Suddenly, Teh feels very, very sick, like his body has already understood what his mind still can’t process.
“H-Hoon…” whispers his mother, between the sobs. “Hoon is... He’s-”
That’s when the realization dawns, and the entire world shatters under Teh’s feet.
(Fate separates Teh and Oh-Aew once again, right before the start of their first university year, but this time they try their best to hold on to each other.)

High school starts at a running pace, and it doesn’t show any sign of slowing down any time soon. Between AP classes, debate and basketball for Bellamy, and young politicians and volleyball for Clarke, they don’t have much time to see each other outside of study hall and weekly study sessions for Mr. Kane’s class. Still, they find time.
Together they survive the first year. Bellamy spends less time at home, choosing instead to stay with either Miller or Murphy, and occasionally falling asleep on Clarke’s couch. As she laid nuzzled into his side, her body curled into him, Bellamy felt like he could finally take a breath and not worry about a single thing. He was with the girl who he trusted with his life, his mind at ease with helping her through a tough situation and feeling oddly relaxed.
