Six months. He had to last six months and then he would be freed, it didn't matter that now - in the moment - or then - someplace in the future - he would have to fake being nice, would have to sit there and bite back on every quip he'd just oh so love to make. It was only six months, and really they were in hell. He had all the time in the world to make up for it afterwards, afterwards when his soul was freed, when he was freed and was no longer being held back. Six months of 'playing nice' before The Radio Demon could return to air at full power.

Six months. Six long months of trying to make things between him and Alastor work. Six months and then surely after that they'd just keep it up, six months in they would realise there was no reason to be aggressive to the point of hatred. Six months and they wouldn't be causing Charlie more stress, he wouldn't have to look at her disappointed face because surely after six months they were going to be fine with each other.
