All the while handling his inability to hear out of his left ear, and the pained headache attacks that come with it—the only cure Keith managing to find for his pain coming in the lulling sound of classical music.
So when Keith offers up his apartment to help the piano prodigy Lance, who’s struggling when it comes to money, Keith can’t help but realize this may be his opportunity to help his condition while also discovering the kindness another can bring.

Keith Kogane hates the word, but apparently he is one.
As teen heartthrob Takashi Shirogane’s social media manager, Keith has been pretending to be Shiro online for over a year now. He spends so much time tweeting as Shiro and tagging along with him to events that Shiro’s life has pretty much overtaken his. So when he accidentally messages super-fan Lance McClain as Shiro instead of himself, he doesn’t see much of a problem with it. Lance is attractive, popular, and much less likely to talk to Keith as Keith, anyway.
But it turns out Lance is in L.A., too. And he suddenly keeps appearing in Keith’s life. When Lance eventually finds a permanent position as Keith’s dog sitter, Keith realizes he might actually have a shot with this guy...as himself. Instincts.
Everyone has them. When our higher order of thought is abandoned, the only thing controlling us is our instincts. Rapid impulses built into our DNA to protect us, turn us into wild animals when threatened. If one had the ability, let’s say, to control others instincts, it would make them god-like. If one could determine exactly how someone would react to specific stimuli, then one could control them in a most primal fashion.

Lance hasn't been doing so great recently. His recent capture by the Galra has left him a fucked up mess, and his rescue didn't fix everything that had happened to him.
