Mike kept looking at him. Too intently.
The weight of it made Will’s chest feel tight, so he focused anywhere else. The edge of the bed. The carpet. The nightstand. He’d never noticed the shallow, barely there, hash marks carved into the side facing the bed before. Twelve of them.
He filed that question away for later.
Mike’s yawn drew Will’s gaze back to him. He stretched out across the bed, all elbows and long lines, his feet hanging past the end like he didn’t quite fit anywhere. He was so tall. The thought alone sent a soft heat blooming in Will’s cheeks.
Will glanced at the alarm clock. Its red numbers glared back at him: 7:52 p.m.
“Hey.” He lightly nudged Mike’s side with his elbow as Mike stretched, forcing him to crunch in on himself. “You asked me to hang out. You don’t get to fall asleep on me.”
“It’s not even eight,” Mike said, too quickly as he rubbed his eyes. “I’m not tired.”
Will knew better. He’d known Mike since kindergarten.

Summary
The identity of Satoru’s dorm mate was revealed to him about a week ago. The guy's name was Suguru Geto, and Satoru couldn’t help but think it sounded oddly similar to his own as soon as he heard it pronounced over the phone.
Summerfield assigned all of their students personal email addresses, so that’s what they used to chat back and forth a little. Their conversation was light— saying hi and making some awkward small talk, mainly about how cramped the dorm was and what they thought the layout might be like.
Suguru mentioned he was from the next town over, but that was about the only detail Satoru managed to get from their insipid digital conversation.
Satoru, feeling a twinge of anxiety, headed toward the door and opened it with prudence.
Before him stood a man of the exact same height. He had sharp eyes and lustrous black hair that was pulled into a bun; a few strands of hair shorter than the rest were untucked and rested on his left cheek. They resembled bangs.
Leftover nerves sat apparent on Satoru’s face as he waited for the new arrival to speak.
